About the event

Trust the Tangle: A Zentangle Practice

With pen on paper, Zentangle invites us to slow down and trust the next small move - one stroke, one shape, one moment at a time, without needing to know where it leads.

This HitRefresh Practice Circle continues a practice that has long been shaped by the generosity and wisdom of Dr. Jill Greenbaum, Ed.D., a Certified Zentangle Teacher whose guidance helped many of us discover calm, creativity, and presence through structured patterning. We offer deep gratitude for her teaching and her blessing as this practice now continues in a new, community-led form.

In this evolving session,

we now come together to "Trust the Tangle" - supported by fellow practitioner Lakshmi Ramaseshan,

who will gently guide the group through an accessible, relaxed creative flow.

You can also expect short visual prompts and beginner-friendly inspiration to help everyone,

whether first-time tangler or seasoned practitioner, enter the practice with ease.

Zentangle is a simple yet powerful method of creating beautiful images using structured, repetitive patterns.

There are no mistakes in Zentangle - only unplanned opportunities. Each line asks you to trust your hand, trust the pattern, and trust that whatever emerges is enough.

In this 45-minute shared practice, we'll explore a few foundational shapes, let them evolve freely on the page, and practice trusting our own instincts instead of reaching for control or perfection. The emphasis is not on outcome - but on presence, curiosity, and self-trust in motion.

At the end, we'll pause to reflect together, share what emerged, and each name one way we trusted ourselves during the practice.

What to Expect:

🌀 Tap into Instinct

Simple shapes become a doorway into trusting your own hand and rhythm.

🧘 Let Go of Control

Discover how focused drawing loosens the grip of "getting it right."

🎨 Create Without Judgment

No rules, no pressure—just space to trust what unfolds on the page.

💬 Share & Reflect

Close the session by naming a moment you trusted yourself in the practice—and noticing where else that trust might show up. What to Bring:

• Paper (any kind works well)

• Fine-tip pen or marker

• Pencil (optional for shading or sketching)

• A willingness to explore without judgment

This session is open to all levels—no artistic experience needed.

Inspired by the teaching of Dr. Jill Greenbaum, Ed.D., and carried forward in community practice.
